According to the American Dental Association, a child’s teeth usually fall out in order in which they appear with the bottom falling out first. Most kids will lose their first tooth when they turn 6 or 7 years old and will lose the last tooth when they reach 12 to 13 years old.

What to Do After a Tooth Falls Out

When your child's tooth falls out for the first time, expect that they’ll be worried or afraid. Do your best to calm them out. The blood coming out of their teeth can be frightening to them, so let them know that it is a normal occurrence. Have them gargle lukewarm water to ease the bleeding. It is also possible to clean the area where the tooth was once were, but be very gentle when brushing that region. It is important to let them know the importance of oral hygiene, even after their baby teeth has fallen out. Remind them to brush their teeth twice a day, floss after eating, and eat foods that will be beneficial to their teeth. Bruising and flossing after every meal can help the teeth to grow healthy and be free from cavities, tooth decay, or any oral health diseases.
