Straighten Your Smile Discreetly in Lakewood, CO

Invisalign® is a type of orthodontic treatment that straightens the teeth and corrects bad bites by wearing a system of clear, lightweight plastic aligners on the maxilla and mandible. It can enhance the contour of your face by restructuring your teeth and jaws. Furthermore, Invisalign alleviates tension on your Temporomandibular joint (TMJ), hence reducing inflammation and pain associated with TMJ disorder.

Invisalign is like Clear Braces which offer a more discreet look and feel, but that’s where their similarities end. Each clear aligner is made from clear plastic, free from Bisphenol A; therefore, it is more comfortable than traditional metal braces or lingual braces. These orthodontic appliances are removable; therefore, patients can take them off when brushing, eating, speaking, or rinsing their mouths with a fluoride mouthwash. We will provide a set of clear aligners that you need to wear for two weeks. These laser-cut aligners are designed to exert pressure on your teeth and direct minor movements to correct orthodontic problems such as deep bites, crossbite, Underbite, and overbite - significantly improving one's facial features.

Dental anatomy plays a key role in the reshaping of all dental treatments. Orthodontists take anatomical considerations into account while creating undercuts and moving teeth. The movement caused by the aligners is preceded by bone as well as cementum resorption and they can even move a molar (tooth). The old aligners have served their purpose after two weeks and then you'll be given a new set. You'll be wearing a new set of aligners every two weeks until the teeth have been straightened.

Align Technology manufactures Invisalign® aligners. Additionally, it is the developer of the iTero Element® scanner – a market-leading digital scanner capable of generating 3D impressions of your teeth in just a few minutes – and a variety of additional 3D digital scanners. Additionally, the Invisalign® SmileView™ simulator is a technology that allows you to preview your final smile after treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

During an initial consultation, Dr. T.C. Hardy will scan and take an impression of your teeth. He will create a unique treatment plan for you that is based on the impression made of the teeth. You'll be getting custom-made, clear aligners to take home with you afterward. You are required to wear these aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day (including the time when you sleep) for two to three weeks before you move on to the next set of aligners. These sets of aligners will shift your teeth gradually until the desired position is made. You can remove these aligners when necessary, like when eating food, chewing gums, drinking beverages, brushing, or flossing your teeth.

Most patients do not experience discomfort or pain with their invisible braces. The number of treatment aligners required and the duration of the treatment depends on the needs of the patient. On average, patients will need 18 up to 30 aligners for as long as 9 to 15 months to achieve the desired results. Dr. T.C. Hardy will assist you with your progress throughout the Invisalign treatment period.

If you are already receiving Invisalign treatment and would like to whiten your teeth, your dentist can advise you on the best whitening product and how to use it effectively and safely.

Invisalign Teen for Lakewood, CO community

More teenagers are already shifting to Invisalign over traditional metal braces to correct the alignment of their teeth because the process of teeth straightening using traditional metal braces affects the way they eat, speak, and in cleaning their teeth. Metal braces are also known for causing self-confidence issues, and it can often lead to them being embarrassed when wearing them. Dr. T.C. Hardy offers Invisalign teen to teenagers who want to align their teeth without the disadvantage of traditional metal braces.

Invisalign Teen is a version of Invisalign that is designed to deal with the unique needs of teenagers. Using the system of clear, custom-fit aligners, this orthodontic method of correcting crooked teeth, unevenly-spaced teeth, space between teeth, or bite issues allows the patients to speak, eat, drink and brush their teeth without a problem. Because the aligners can be removed, Invisalign Teen also will enable teens to remove them and wear mouthguards when participating in sports or remove the aligners when playing a musical instrument. Cleaning the aligners is also made easier. To maintain the aligners looking their best, it's a great idea to soak them in a similar cleanser most adults use for their dentures or Invisalign cleaning crystals at least once a day.

Our patients at Hardy Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics enjoy the benefits of what Invisalign Teen can offer. They can achieve a straighter and more beautiful smile with less of an impact in their daily lives.

Are there Invisible Aligners for Kids?

What is Invisalign First

Aside from regular oral hygiene, in order to achieve a beautiful smile, one needs a variety of dental treatments to treat dental issues early in childhood even before all the deciduous teeth have erupted. Invisalign First is the latest innovation of Invisalign aimed at treating the oral health conditions of children even during tooth development. Invisalign First lets children use Invisalign aligners to straighten their baby teeth. It is an early ortho treatment that offers children an alternative to traditional metal braces.

Invisalign First deals with the pathology of the maxilla and mandible and is designed to correct a wide range of teeth-straightening issues such as crowded teeth, arch growth, tooth protrusions, narrow dental arches, and spacing to improve the appearance of the child's teeth. Additionally, it can be used to address thumb-sucking, to ease minor speech issues, and to manage the breadth of the upper and lower arch. The trays are different from the original Invisalign, as they work by gradually widening and contouring the jawline of growing children - a process known as dental arch expansion. By expanding the arch to its desired position, skilled orthodontists such as Dr. Timothy D. Hardy can correct more serious oral health issues in the future.

Express / Lite for simpler teeth aligning

Invisalign express/Lite is specifically made for people who have less spacing and teeth crowding issues. Express utilizes a smaller set of aligners, between five and ten, that are replaced every 2 weeks, as opposed to standard clear aligners, which can require 25 or more series. It can typically be faster and more affordable. Use of a clear retainer is expected once your orthodontic problem has been treated in order to keep your teeth in their new and improved position. Retainers can be cemented to position or removable. Retainers need to be worn every day for a while until you’re allowed to only wear them at night.
